Mountaineer's Route on Mount Whitney

from $22.00

Mount Whitney, CA | 2021

The standard hike up to Mount Whitney is 22 miles round-trip, but a shorter, more direct route exists called the Mountaineer’s Route. It covers the same elevation gain in just 8.8 miles round trip, and involves a few sections that are highly memorable, including this 1,200-ish vertical foot chute that leads up to “The Notch” at 14,100 feet elevation. From “The Notch” climbers can choose to do the final 400 vertical feet via either a class 3 climbing section or a class 2 scramble up to the summit.
